Despite bookmarks, social media, etc…, domain names are still very important to the success of the websites built upon them. A great domain name can be the difference between a successful website or blog and one that is doomed to become a failure. If you were to ask someone “Where did you get that great shirt?” and they said “I got it at this really great website called superstorename.com.” it is likely to be remembered by that person and they in turn might visit that website to see what they offer. On the other hand if you asked someone the same question and they replied by saying “I faved a Tweet by someone I came across online and there was a website link in one of their previous Tweets and I followed that link and found this great online store who’s domain name I can’t remember.” then it is highly unlikely that you will receive a visit to your website because there is not a memorable domain name they will remember. Now before we go further into why a great domain name matters, I think I should outline some things that help define what a “great domain name” is.READ MORE !
I have been building websites and blog sites since way back in the 1990’s. I have also spent an unbelievable amount of time looking at different websites and blogs ever since I first got online and started browsing since the early 90’s. Over the years I have seen a countless number of websites and blogs, both good and bad. Now since I have spent so much of my lifetime online I often get asked, what makes a good website or blog? My usual answer to that question is, you can just tell if one is good by going to it and looking around! Since I usually give an answer that really doesn’t give much information to whoever asks me what makes a website or blog good, I thought I should maybe outline some key things that help me in my judgment on how good a website or blog is. The saying “You can’t judge a book by it’s cover” is unfortunately, something that I don’t necessarily adhere to when passing judgment on a website or blog. I do tend to look at how nice the site looks and that figures into my perception of that particular site. I’m onlyREAD MORE !
Every website or blog site owner should know or at least should have heard the term SEO, which is short for Search Engine Optimization. Now, for those who don’t know, SEO is basically things that you (or someone you pay to do) can do to your website or blog site to make them more search engine friendly so that your site will climb up or stay at the top of the search engine results pages or SERP’s for short. Most website and blog site owners want more people to click on the search results links to their site so that people will visit, hopefully return at some point and in many cases, see theirREAD MORE !

There’s an old saying that I am sure most people out there have heard. It’s the saying that “You only get one chance to make a first impression”. That saying is so true! However, many website and blog site owners don’t realize that the very same saying, which wasn’t talking about anything other than when you first meet someone, also is true for websites and blog sites. Do you want them to think “Wow, nice site!” or something like “If you’ve seen one of these site’s, then you’ve seen them all!”?
