In today’s modern online world it seems that everywhere that you look someone is trying to sell you one thing or another, and that’s just about all they seem to care about. My belief is a bit different. Don’t get me wrong, I like to make money as much as the next person, but I have learned that building relationships with customers or potential customers can make you more money and be more rewarding in the long run.
I have owned a couple of different business in my life, and they were all successful. I owe part of my success in business to the fact that I didn’t treat everyone like they were a wallet I was hoping to pry open as fast as possible. I was raised around my grandfather, a business owner himself, who had taught me that if you treat people with respect and go out of your way to show them that respect and that you value them as a customer of yours, it will pay off in the long run.
Yes, these practices don’t always get you the quick bucks, but they will get customers to come back for more of your products or services. Treat people well and they will also tell family, friends and other acquaintances about how well you have treated them and that is some of the best advertising. First off, word of mouth doesn’t cost you anything as far as dollars, and second thing is because word of mouth advertising can spread quickly and pay off very well as time goes on.
Now, in today’s online world of sales and services, it can be a little more difficult to show people that respect that you can show them in person. So, how do you show respect to people in an online marketplace selling products or services? Well, there are a few ways that you can do that.
Things like replying quickly to any emails or messages that customers or potential customers send you in a prompt and professional manner. You can send your customers thank you email, messages, cards. Another example of respect for your customers and potential customers would be to not bombard them with tons and tons of different advertisements, pop-ups, etc. when they come to visit your website or blog.
There are many different things that you can do in today’s modern online marketplace to build relationships with your customers and potential customers. Sometimes it might take a bit of creativity to do this online, but as long as they understand that you are trying to treat them as a valued customer or potential customer then it’s a good idea. Build a respectful relationship with your customers and potential customers and it will pay off more in the long run and give you and/or your online business a great reputation, and that’s the best advertising there is!
