Getting Carried Away With Social Media

In today’s world, social media is a main source of getting your ideas, passions, hobbies, information and more seen by millions of people around the world. If you have your own website or blog site then using social media can be a key component in driving traffic to your website or blog site. The many social media websites, especially the larger ones like Twitter, Facebook and Google+, have millions of people that use them daily. This means the potential to get your posts on these websites seen by all these people is huge.   Now, I for one, can understand why so many companies, websites and people make many postings on these social media sites. However, when do the number of Tweets, Shares and every other postings become just too much? When and where is the line drawn between doing great promoting and going too far? The answer doesn’t really have a definite line as to what is too much and what is adequate.   Without a definite answer, as it’s impossible to determine exactly, each person, company and website needs to think about what message they want to send to their followers, friends, etc. on these social media websites.READ MORE !

What is your Reputation Worth?

Recently I have come across thread postings on a couple of different web forum websites that I am a member on that had topics and stories of sellers not going through with a transaction for something that the seller had listed up for auction on a website. The sellers had stated to the winning bidders, that they were not going to go through with a sale because they didn’t get a good enough winning bid for them to complete the transaction. These were what is called a “No-Reserve” auction. Now, in a “No-Reserve” auction a seller lists their product/item/etc. for sale and they are supposed to sell it to the winning bidder, no matter what the winning bid amount is. These type of auction listings are usually put up by the seller as a “No-Reserve” auction so that it will draw more attention to their auction listing, thus increasing the potential for more bidders on their auction listing and hopefully a higher price that they would have gotten with a “Reserve Price” auction.   A “No-Reserve” auction draws more attention than an auction for a product/item/service that has a set reserve price (a minimum price of which a seller isREAD MORE !

What is this World Coming to?

Reading the news across the internet, watching the news on TV and what’s going on lately has me asking “What is this World coming to?”. Maybe it’s just me and because I am getting older, but I just seem to think there is just so much craziness and hatred going on lately in this world.   We have the extremist group ISIS / ISIL and the turmoil in the middle East, we have all the military and political drama going on in the Ukraine area with them and Russia as well as other kinds of drama and hatred between different people and countries all over the world it seem. We even have rioting going on right here in America!   Lately it just seems like we, as a people, are causing and creating a lot of hatred between people at a time when we should be enjoying all that life has to offer us. There is so much going on in the world that isn‘t bad, why not take time to see and enjoy it?   As I have reached what is generally called the “Middle-Age” of life, I have realized that great things can NOT be achieved with hate!READ MORE !

Leonard Nimoy, The passing of an icon

Friday February 27th 2015 will be the day that Cultural Icon Leonard Nimoy, the famous actor from the original Star Trek TV (Television) series passed away. His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy said that Leonard’s cause of death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Leonard Nimoy play the famous “Mr. Spock” on the iconic original Star Trek TV series from the 1960’s as well as in several Star Trek movies and voice appearances in a few video games as well.   Leonard Nimoy was 83 years old and he will be missed by many, many people, including his fans from around the world. One key and very notable person who will miss him is his close friend William Shatner, the famous actor who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series with Nimoy.   In my mind and the mind of countless people around the world, Leonard Nimoy played the role of Mr. Spock in his Star Trek roles better than anyone else could have. His way of digging deep down and portraying Mr. Spock as a very cold, emotionless and logically thinking character was just perfect. However in real life Leonard Nimoy was not like that atREAD MORE !

Keep Your Eyes On The Road Or Else!

These days there are many distractions that can get a driver of a car, truck or whatever distracted. Everything from messing around with your stereo to checking Facebook on a Smartphone can cause a driver to take his or her eyes off of the road while driving which in many cases can lead to an unexpected accident.   Another thing that can cause a driver not to have their eyes on the road is tired and sleepy driver. Many people drive when they are very sleepy and have a hard time keeping their eyes open and paying attention to the road ahead of them. Well there is a new Australian company called Seeing Machines that has developed a new technology that will help distracted and sleepy drivers keep their eyes where they should be, on the road ahead of them.   Seeing Machines of Australia has developed a driver sensing system with an infrared camera mounted to the vehicles dashboard that works with software running in the car to evaluate whether or not the driver of that vehicle has their eyes on the road ahead. This sensing system evaluates the drivers head position, their eyes blink rate and even theirREAD MORE !

Black Friday Craziness!

The most talked about shopping day of the entire year, the so-called Black Friday is always kind of crazy and in 2014 it turned out to be no different than the craziness of the years gone by. There are crazy stories about Black Friday all around the internet, some are tragic and others just puzzling. Every year we hear about all kinds of crazy things that happen on Black Friday. Some are understandable, like saving tons of money on the years must have electronic device or gadget while others are not understandable at all. Below are some of the more notable that I read about in the day or so following this years Black Friday, 2014.   Topping the list of Black Friday craziness is a story about a twenty two year old Chicago, Illinois woman who was shot by an ex-boyfriend. After shooting the twenty two year old in the head, he former boyfriend then turned the gun on himself and fired. This crazy Black Friday shooting happened at the Nordstrom department store at 55 East Grand Ave. in Chicago Illinois (USA) on the first level of the store. It was the twenty two year old woman’s birthday and herREAD MORE !
